A simple and reliable clinical tool for assessing tear production. The Schirmer Test is the standard method used to quantify basal tear secretion and aid in the diagnosis of dry eye. Each pack contains impregnated filter paper strips which are gently placed in the lower conjunctival fornix for a set period of time. The length of the moistened portion is then measured and a result of less than 10mm indicates dry eye, pointing to the need for replacement tear therapy.
